Coordinated by LRGVDC-Homeland Security staff, the LRGVDC Citizen Corps is part of the national Citizen Corps initiative that seeks to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond and recover from emergencies. Through outreach, training and volunteer opportunities, LRGVDC Citizen Corps brings together individuals, community-based organization, non-profit organizations, private sector, schools, and government to promote preparedness at the local level.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)
Helps medical, public health and other volunteers offer their expertise during local emergencies and other times of community need. MRC volunteers could be active or retired health professionals or any citizens interested in health issues.
